Soap Carving

Soap Changes

Additive: I ran water on it and then covered it with paper receipts.

Subtractive: I stuck it in a pot and boiled it for about 25 minutes, which removed the paper from it and completely changed up the shape.

Subtractive: I sliced the soap into three pieces.

Additive: I covered each piece with paper receipts, again.

Additive: I colored each piece with a different colored ink.

Subtractive: I poked a hole through each piece.

Additive: Rarely noticeable, but I then froze them for about an hour.

Additive: I added matching colored glitter to each piece. For example. for the green piece, I added green glitter.

Additive: I wanted to see if I could turn it into a necklace, so I put a chain through the holes I made from before.

Subtractive: The necklace didn't turn out so well, considering when I held it up by the chain the pieces completely broke off, slicing some in half, but still creating a rather interesting appearance

Additive: I then added glitter (again), but sprinkled each piece with its complimentary color. For example, for the blue pieces, I put on orange glitter, since blue and orange are compliments of each other. This also created a nice contrast look and made the colors really stand out. Unfortunately, I could not find any yellow or gold glitter for the purple piece, which is why I decided to put that piece in the back center.

Additive/Final Result: After putting the pieces on the black wood base as shown, I took advantage of the cracks that came from the heavy chain by sticking in little pieces of a simple plant in each crack.
